Up-tower wind turbine services

Offering an array of wind turbine field services alongside two methods of vibration analysis and monitoring, H&N Electric™ brings deep experience in up-tower wind maintenance to your wind farm.

Field services to keep you up and running

H&N Electric™ has designed a full suite of up-tower wind turbine services with the efficiency and responsiveness to keep your turbines going strong.

Gearbox oil changes
Our unique, innovative mobile oil servicing system is outfitted with everything necessary to quickly remove and replace your wind turbine’s gearbox oils.

Bearing changes and shaft repair
We apply proven tools and processes to provide efficient up-tower bearing replacement on both generators and gearboxes across multiple wind turbine manufacturers.

Brush riggings and slip rings
H&N can quickly change brush riggings and slip rings — or upgrade to alternative, more cost-efficient products — at your application site. Thanks to well-appointed machine shops, we can also refurbish slip rings for re-use, extending their lifespan while saving you money.

Up-tower vibration analysis

H&N offers up-tower vibration analysis to detect mechanical problems early, keeping your wind turbines online. Our highly trained service technicians employ both traditional vibration analysis and remote, constant monitoring to identify problems in your wind turbine gearboxes and generators before expensive equipment failures.

With enough warning to enact preventative maintenance, vibration analysis can detect several critical mechanical problems:

  • Lack of lubrication or oil contamination/breakdown
  • Worn or broken gears
  • Loose or faulty bearings
  • Unbalance
  • Misalignment

Traditional analysis

Our team sample multiple gearbox and generator points into a multi-input concentrator via fiber optic cable to a down-tower analyzer for capture, recording and analysis.

While most wind farms do not allow personnel up-tower during the necessary running/testing conditions, we can still perform this service during other routine maintenance, like oil changes.

Remote monitoring

Alternatively, H&N utilizes a wireless or broadband connection from a combined multi-point concentrator and intelligent analyzer to centrally monitor conditions across multiple wind turbines on a regular basis.

This system utilizes a predetermined intelligence baseline to trigger alerts on a central computer, allowing us to detect and act on abnormalities as soon as they occur.

Avoid the costs and production losses associated with unplanned downtime. H&N’s periodic vibration analysis establishes performance trends that increase wind turbine gearbox lifespan and equipment life, allowing you to operate more profitably and predictably, day after day.
